...you know, before the graphic novels "The Promise" and "The Search", I thought that Azula was NOT going to have a happy ending: I thought Aang was most likely going to do to Azula what he did to Ozai: take her bending away. Why?
1) she is one of, if not the, most powerful firebender in the world,
2) she is not only evil, but has also gone completely nuts,
3) she is extremely dangerous, considering that the only people able to hold her off are Aang, Zuko, Katara and possibly Iroh.
Now, the only two solutions to neutralize once and for all the threat Azula poses are either kill her or take her bending. And given that Zuko would never purposely kill her no matter what, and neither would Aang because he believes in non violence, in my mind Azula was doomed to live the rest of her life in a dark cell at the Boiling Rock or in some mental asylum, stripped of everithing that made her who she was, firebending included. Much like Ozai.
I'm glad that "The Search" proved me wrong, although it's not over yet. Let's just hope she somehow gets her happy ending, even though she looks still pretty unrecoverable...

So, how did it end? (If it has yet, ofc.)
She ran away. But she returned in a subsequent novel...
