If I changed my name I'd simply let people know via a journal, and I woudln't change it on a whim there woudl be a reaosn(Such as wanting to start a page that is proffesional when/if I get to that level) in which I probably would want to keep them seprate anyway.
And if hte name is the same how woudl the site know if it's supposed to go to the new user or the old one if it keeps redirecting? Names on sites should never be reused.
Actully redirects aren't that hard, perhaps on the scale da woudl need to do it on it might be, but they tend to do whatever they want without any concern as to wheater or not the users want it anyway.
