Kirin and unicorn are different creatures. The latter comes from the Western fantasy.

No but a kirin is a one antlered deer like thingy with dragon scales ect.

Actually, a Kirin (or Qilin) is a cross between a dragon and a horse. Common Qilin are chinese ones. A head of a dragon, scales, but hooves like a horse and a large, silky tail.
