Thanks very much for the insightful comments. I learned to paint with real paint a long time before I picked up a digital 'brush' - so I do always aim for a traditional look in my photoshop work. Thanks for noticing! 
For me, I was learning to paint with acrylics and photoshop at the same time. So they worked hand-in-hand to help me see things as color/ shapes. And you are very welcome!
