Oh dear what a long presentation. 
Well, Sherlock wasn't going to jump off the rock, really - mostly he was just looking at the scales left behind - scientist and all that.
Well, I reckon that Mycroft will have a thing or two to say to this rogue pirate - as he's from The Company - and The Company don't like pirates anyway, much less ones that steal merpeople.

The ship's cast anchor now, and he waits as Violet's Captain rows to shore.
"Sherlock," Brother approaches a little cautiously, leaning on his cane, lest there's a trap.
"Mycroft," he's staring at the fire, not bothering the usual niceties required of a Captain.
"You can't keep doing this, Sherlock."
"You can't force me to marry her."
"You haven't even met her - how would you know if you like her or don't like her?" He seems a little desperate which is all to obvious to his brother.
"You don't like her for yourself - therefore it's obvious she's one of those boring little society wenches that only cares about the family inheritance they'd tap into."
"You won't get it unless you marry, Sherlock. I'm a Captain..."
"You can afford the loss," Sherlock quotes mockingly, "yes, yes - all so boring."
"You'd rather the family disowned you and be a pauper?"
"Better than fancy dinner parties and boring conversation."
"Sherlock, you think everything other than stealing and uncharted territory is boring."
"That's because no one's done it before."
"You'll come back then." It's an order, not to be questioned.
"I don't exactly have the choice, but I will on a condition."
Mycroft sighs, leaning on his cane, humming a little. "And what is this condition?"
"You don't force me into marriage for another three months."
"Two."
"Two and a half."
"It's done. She'll be disappointed."
He sighs. "Only because she's a petulant brat and not getting what she wants."
"And you're supposed to be above that?"
"Yes. Obviously."

The nightly songs begin, directed toward the ship with tan sails, though anchored toward the Island. The merpeople only call it Crooked Turtle, because that is it's shape, mostly.
He notes the fire on the shore - possibly considering the distance, the lonely pirate.
What's a Company ship doing trying to find a lone pirate like that?
It's not his business.
