Have you tried using calligraphic pens before? Just wondering...
oooh no i have not, although that would be nice to try, i seem to prefer the felt tip stuff. you can get really nice brush work done.
It'd be fun to try if you get a complete set. After some practice, varying any line width will be a synch. 
it sounds really cool! but i am trying to aim for getting a tablet as well... so many things to do! :<
