yea i have run into the same problems. i have used krylon primer on gundams for kitbashing and it seams to work well. have you tried washing the parts before painting. sometimes oils from manufacturing can cause paint problems.
I haven't yet, but I did just pick up some new kits over the weekend that are still on the sprue, I will take that advice and try doing that.
