Comment on slim foo by hora-hora

The font is my foobar is not like yours and I followed all your steps. When I try to change it to the installed font (haxrcorpttf) it's really small and get blurry if I try to make it bigger. Anyone knows why this is happening?

Haxrcorp is bitmap font and when you using bitmap font with windows cleartype rendering or trying to make it larger than default 8/9 pixels it obviously would be blurred.

To make it look like exact as in preview you need to disable "smoth edges of screen fonts" perfomance preferences goput.it/3sgk.png and do not change default font size of haxrcorp.

Or you can use alternative font rednering engines like mactype or gdypp - here is info about it www.ricing.co.nf/#@4.
I tried what you said, but I got the same results. I played with the font a little bit and found out that Haxrcorp 12 pixels is nice, unlike 8/9 pixels which cannot be seen. Anyways thanks for your help and sorry for the double post (it was a mistake and I don't know how to take it out).

This is what happens when I import w_foo and what happens after I change it to haxrcorp myself:

The first image shows what the font looks like when I import w_foo and the other two what they look like when I change it to haxrcorp myself:

Any ideia why this is happening? Nevertheless I really enjoy this skin and I want to thank you.

It seems like I mistakenly included haxrcorpttf font instead of haxrcorp4088 into the archive with slimfoo on DA, so thanks for finding this out. This skin is pretty outdated anyway, and I'm going to update it eventually.

Basically what happens, is that this version of slimfoo on DA tended to use haxrcorp4088 as playlist font and when foobar wasn't able to locate it, it automatically switched to the default windows font (Arial I guess). That is what was happening on your first image. But after you manually changed it to haxrcorpttf 12 it started to look like as in preview. So you've resolved your problem with font by yourself.

That said, both "haxrcorpttf" and "haxrcorp4088" looks same, except haxrcorpttf is truetype and haxrcorp4088 is bitmap. That's why there were size differences in them.

You can continue to use this skin with haxrcorpttf with 12 pixels or download and install haxrcorp4088 from here www.mediafire.com/?13p9ct6fv97… and use it with 9p size, which probably the only available size for it.

Aside from that in preview, status bar and status pane were turned off - preferences/display/status bar - "show status bar" & "status fame". Also, in preview I've had grouping by the albums [ / %album%] - goput.it/itx3.png .

Awesome. I was going to ask if this had been updated recently. Should this still work fine with 1.2.9, for the time being?

I'm not sure what my issue is. Maybe recently installed drivers, or something in your skin (or included components), or some other components I may have installed. But foobar's UI keeps freezing up on me after I start playback. Audio plays fine, but the program is extremely slow to respond to my inputs, seemingly freezing (not responding) for a few seconds at a time. (Ocassionally I experience this with other programs, so I'm inclined to say drivers, but unfortunately I don't really have any idea which ones or when exactly I installed them. :S)

Hello, no I haven't updated it yet, but it should work fine with latest 1.2.9 foobar. Today I've tested it with new 1.2.9 installation and it works well.
As for your problem, I don't think it was caused by drivers, sounds more like components conflict (in slimfoo I've stored components files in other folder than default "components"). What I can suggest is to try remove any unneeded components and folders your from foobar folder. In order to work slimfoo skin requires only 4 additional dll's:
-foo_ui_columns.dll
-foo_uie_panel_splitter.dll
-foo_uie_vis_channel_spectrum.dll
and optionally
-foo_ui_hacks.dll

So, first of all, if you have any previous "slim_foo" folders left in your foobar directory -delete them. Than copy/replace 4 component files listed above from slimfoo.zip archive to your foobar/components folder.
After that, your problem may be solved. If not, than try to remove any unneeded components (if you have downloaded other foobar skins from deviantart than they in most cases also had several components required for their work). i.imgur.com/ojDPmOZ.png - these are default foobar dll's + slimfoo 4 aditional components, so you can delete all components that are not listed on that picture. But be aware, that after that all skins other than slimfoo most likely wouldn't work anymore.

Yeah, possibly something from an old install. I just ended up doing a fresh install. So far it works, but I haven't really installed any extra components. I figure if they weren't important enough for me to notice them missing, then there's no need to reinstall everything. (Which reminds me, I do need to reinstall the scrobbler extension)

Still looking forward to an update. Just curious; might it be reasonable to add a minimal seek bar, like you have the volume slider? I sometimes find myself wishing the skin included one, but I'm not sure it'd fit the aesthetics of the skin.

Glad you resolved your problem.

I've added seek bar, volume slider, playlist switcher and several other features to my current version of slimfoo, which I'm using on my laptop but haven't released on DA yet. You can get it from here if you want - www.mediafire.com/download/6ab…

Thanks for all your help! You answered all my questions fast and with the solutions I needed, I'm very grateful for that. I hope you update the skin pretty soon, because you're an awesome artist. Thanks again for your awesome skin and hard work.
