I just went looking for info on Madoka Magica, and apparently it's a spiritual successor to Card Captor Sakura... a show which I am only mildly ashamed of admitting that I found myself enjoying back when its Brazilian dub aired on Carton Network. So I might actually give that a try too.

I wouldn't really call it that, as Madoka is actually marketed at adults, not children. It takes the whole "magical girl" trope and completely turns it on its head. Also you don't have to worry about your man card getting revoked, the series is actually pretty psychological and has it's moments of "DID THAT JUST SERIOUSLY HAPPEN!?" to keep your masculinity intact, as well as get yer brain reeling trying to figure out what is going on.
Also the art direction is phenomenal, I seriously cannot get enough of it, omg.
