The Romans ended up using it due to the Dacian falx.

same reason they reinforced the helmets part of their equipment.

Which time?By "lorica" you possibly mean specifically segmental form of armor? But that is(modernly)called lorica segmentata/laminata."Lorica" alone is not identifiing specifically this type of armour. That word simply means "an armour(any armour) and all major types of Roman used armours are called "lorica" with only that 2nd part acrually refering to specific type(L.segmentata,L.squamata,L.hamata...).This is meant to be late 1st,early 2nd century and at that time segmental arm protector was safely in use(as additional protection used by some soldiers not all).

Such limb protection was however used also after most of them turned to Christianity.

Yes, i just used the latin term to say armour, the equipment of the legionary as far as i know never covered their arms, during the whole Roman History!

What you see on the picture is historical not some fantasy invention by the artist.Modernly its called "Manica"(latin for "sleeve, how Romans themselves called it is uknown). This arm protector is safely recorded to be used by the Roman army since at least second half of the 1st century to 5th century and it was used also as leg protection next to arms.We have both original Roman pictures of it as well as written account describing it.Outside of Roman army it existed for even much longer time.Nomadic tribes of Euro-Asia are likely its original inventors and it was already in Persian use during Achaemenid dynasty.Greeks adopted it from the Persians and used it typically in their heavy cavalry. This was likely where Romans saw it for the 1st time with Roman gladiators probably being first to use it in the Roman Empire.
