I personally prefer the Ambassador-concept over the canon Ambassador, any day.
I like to make myself belief that planet earth turns slowly,but to belief that ambassador class is powerful in any concept,that just as stupid as saying "Dear Viena" without knowing what it is!
From what I understand, you don't care much for the Ambassador-class.

[link] Here's what Andrew Probert (with the help of Tobias Richter) created. Once Probert left TNG at the end of the 1st season, they scraped his design concept, and came up with the one Rick Sternbach slapped together. I personally didn't like the Enterprise-C; to me, looked like a toy tugboat, and it's design sense seemed out of place with the evolution of the Excelsior-class, Enterprise-B (which I hated the upgrade), and Enterprise-D.
the good part of the ambassador design was that you could see how the excelsior turned into the galaxy class through it. That was all that was good about it.
I think you must be referring to the Andrew Probert concept; it definitely deserves introducing. Though, in some cases I do like Rick Sternbach's design, too, though I would make a few changes (like making it into a different earlier class of ship, and adjust its nacelle proportions).
Speaking of Sternbach, I really love his illustrations, like his Negh'Var [link] and Galor [link] which look great on paper; it's just the models themselves don't pull the same effect (same thing with Probert's Romulan Warbird; it looks far better in illustration [link].

Hold on,i gotta get my old box out.i think i remember doing something like this for my UNS Omega-C but scrap it later because of it "non-canon-ist"and replace it with the canon Ambassador model(With a connection bar of course!)
