It makes it feel like a cheap trick, or like the whole bullpen has unmanaged ADHD. Ever since Flashpoint I've been slightly confused on event sequence and lore, because just enough keeps changing around and the reboots happen just close enough together that my memory can assign some things to the wrong period. Not much forward progress can be made in any reboot's time which might carry over, and even less because some is spent simply revisiting background info and origins. I don't even care too much about the cataclysmic events that cause them, because by now they're just the fanfares and I know any losses suffered during them will soon be rendered irrelevant.
Writers are skilled enough that the whole thing is often unnecessary to make believable major retcons.
