Yea, that was weird. When I played Merrowind I saw that and was like, "WTF?", but whatever, it's a videogame nt a mythology professor, they have Scamps, Daedra, Mudcrabs, and other of their own mythology anyways so it didn't matter. But Kathrine Briggs says they are ugly little boggies and are said to be the spirits of Giants and so can turn huge. Well, I couldn't make them spirits as that would make them undead, little ghosts of ectoplasmic aether. Back then they had a far inferior view of things (Biology, Physics, Logic and even Spirituality) so they often make HUGE logically flawed and silly nonsensical conclusioabout mythological creatures so being from an era of knowledge and reason you have to "fill in the blanks" of many mythological creatures. The aord Sprirt was SOOOO incredibley vague, it meant fairy, monster, elemental, living, dead, boggy, even they themeselves didn't even know what the word meant, they just through it around like candy and painted anything and everything with the term and so you have to go throuh mythology and re-categoze everything and scrutinize it seeing if it fits Undead, Giant, or Fey, then "Improve" it to todays more sensible standards.
