Yeah, it usually works, it best to keep attacking. For special power ups, you really don't need them if you can continue attack Discord along with changelings standing in the way.

Hello. Thanks again for the tips. I actually managed to get past Discord with Fluttershy! Now I just need to get past Chrysalis. It's hard even with my shield upgraded up to level 12 and a durability level of 20 though.

Ah, cool! Alright, so, I've got another tip, this can work for all the characters. When fighting Discord, try to kill many changelings as you can while attacking Discord. Changelings can spawn infinitely unless you kill Discord. When your shield is at least 3/4, try to kill Discord as soon as possible.

Thanks again for the tip! Yeah, with Fluttershy at least it seems like I can get past Discord if I focus on the changelings while occasionally hitting him with the weakening special attack. Chrysalis is going to be a challenge though. Even though there are slightly less changelings sometimes, her lightning attacks drain my shield even with upgrades.

A little update. I actually managed to get past Chrysalis with Fluttershy, Rarity, and Twilight Sparkle! Thanks again for the tips. They really helped. ^_^

Well, after Discord I usually manage to upgrade shield durability all the way to 20 and the castle damage reduction level to 10 or 11. I've also been upgrading my shield regeneration and my firepower (up to 10 sometimes). It doesn't seem to be helping though. Castle upgrades get so expensive after level 10, and I also have to use the bits to rebuild the castle (1000 bits per piece) after Discord wrecks it.
