Well, it is. And stupid.

You can disagree, as much as you like, it's up to you. But keep it civilized.
As you would not like anyone to talk to you like that on any place on your own page.

I wouldn't mind, if I'd just said the most pseudophilosophical, utterly invalid, offensive sentence in the history of written language.
Seriously, you think people can't fail?

It's a matter of how you view things.
Off course there are local failures or temporary difficulties, which might be areal chalange, but I talk about a person who works hard and achieve the goal despite the difficulties.

Even if one did not prevail in some university course of studies or a job or whatever, but instead of giving up found something else, in which he is actually good. - He wanted to succeed and did so.

While on the other hand, those who don't want to do anything nor try - most likely would not make it.

In life there are ups and downs, but there are also a lot of people who let the downs to influence themselves too much, or don't want to do anything for something they want when they see that it's not as easy as they thought. I have seen some of those, while hardworking people most likely to achieve sooner or later their goals or success.

This is what I think.

If you notice, many people understood what I meant and even liked that.

Feel free to dislike it. It's ok by me. :)

I understand what you mean, even though I think it's still kind of a philosophical stretch.
The failures are still failures, but you're just not supposed to give up. Even though you shouldn't let them dishearten you, failures are still very real.
Pretending like they aren't is like denying death as a part of a human's life cycle.
And I think many people would find this very offensive.
Like, for example, someone who tries their very best and gives their all to pay their debts to the mafia, but fails and the mafia brutally murders them. Would you call this just a momentary obstacle?
Your theory, if I may call it that, is a broad generalization that everyone actually has the chance to succeed. Some people just can't, even though they try their best. And some people can't even try, due to circumstances that prevent it.

You put your ideas into wrong words, methinks.
The way things are, people might misunderstand your words.

What do I care if some other people like it? I still find it offensive.

Of course it's ok by you, it's my opinion.

I did not mean to offend anyone, nor you in person. But I would not remove something just because of one opinion, or few opinions. It's naturally that some would not like, even things that many do. (and I don't speak only about my stuff here)
You are the first one to point it out as offensive and it's here since 2006 (more than 5 years). Some did say that they don't agree, actually I think 3 or 4 people said it in comments, and that's ok by me.
While others felt rather happy about it.

I have on it 1435 favorites, despite the fact it's a scrap and not a deviation in a gallery. Actually I scrapped it once I've seen that too many favorite it, I did not want it to mess with my statistics and as I don't think of this as a masterpiece. But I did not ask people to favourite it, they did it because they felt like doing it. Actually aside that, the maximum fav's I have on my other works are 20 - which I review as serious and interesting.

More than that, why do you give to it more meaning than there is? It's quite a simple phrase, so you should review it as such;
Off course you can interpret it in few different ways, but so many other things are. It's all up to the persons attitude and privet understanding, there is no way I can predict those about the people of the wide world. If I was trying to satisfy everyone, I would not create at all, as it's impossible that completely everybody would like it, no matter what it is.
But It's just a stamp. Not a philosophy course or a guidance for failing or prevailing.
Many people find it encouraging, and I am quite happy they are. This is all I wanted.

It does not have to do anything with serious issues like the Mafia, politics, wars, disasters, health disabilities.

You can review the other comment I have written here half an a year ago if you wish: [link] I just don't feel like repeating myself.

In the conclusion:
It's plainly about human attitude towards things that ARE under their own control, not more than that.

I do care if I offend someone in general, but I don't if that person is not polite.
And as I said before, I am sorry you feel offended, this is not what I meant to do.
Have a nice day.
RakmiFromSundown's avatar
That's the whole point.
It comes off as what it isn't.
When did I say that you needed to make something perfect? Perfection is not possible. Of course someone will find it offensive.
My opinion still stands, I think it's quite a fool notion.
I would go into more detail here, but I'm not in the mood for a wall-of-text argument.
Do as you wish, for 'tis your stamp, not mine.
Don't say 'have a nice day' in an argument that does not happen in real time, it just seems rude.
Genny-Raskin's avatar
True, there is nothing to add. You said your point I said mine. We disagree, end of story. I see no disaster in here, nor find it offensive myself.

But you know, you seem like kind of a person that seeks in too many things personally offensive notions, even when they are not there.
I think that you might have a happier life if you understood that nobody seeks to offend or hurt you, especially by wishing you goodbye and to have a nice time - whatever it is.
