Uh, this is lame, I know, but is there such a tutorial for Photoshop CS2? (I got it fo free)
I think with a bit of tweaking, you could probably adapt this method to work for Photoshop. 
I've never used CS2, only CS5, so I don't know how advanced the CS2 is compared to CS5 and GIMP. Try searching for a coloring tutorial in the Resources and Stock Images gallery, or check out some of the tutorial groups here in deviantART such as #TutorialsClub or #ArtistsHospital. Perhaps someone there might know how to help you!

CS2 is less advanced than CS5. Not sure how advanced in relation to GIMP.
