I believe my thought process was that the girl in the poem had OCD; the paper limbs imply that she is easily coerced into doing things but at the same time she marches to the beat of her own drum. She counts coloured lines on her backdrop of failed love affairs because the obsessions will always be there, and they will always take precedent.
