I can see why they went with the first one... the other ones are great as illustrations, but I think that one is better as a logo.
Yeah, the first on is more simplistic and doesn't go too far from the original design, so i was fairly sure they will go with this one, but my personal favorite is the one with the knife in the vhs tape.
That one would be great as... well I don't know what it's called, but you know the short animation that plays when a logo appears at the start of a movie? But anyway that would be great to see that one animated... like the VHS tape sitting there with the logo, then suddenly the knife whips in from off-screen and stabs into it, spraying out blood and cracking the logo.
