Yes that's my issue with some things, there's an 800 year history that's almost blank concerning the empires. There's no way Diva and Ash couldn't have tried to reach out to Blossom at some point in time.
There's actually a lot of things that have been referenced that still haven't been explained. Like The Longest Wait references "the incident at Orthorbae". What incident? What happened? How bad was it? Or the more recent "Where did Nishi'kanta go?". I wish DayDream would do more pre-Moonless Age stories, those at least fill in some gaps.
Yeah there are quite a lot of things that need to be filled. DD helps with that even if it's not canon.. as long as people vote for these kinds of choice 
I tend to accept DD as canon unless MA directly contradicts it, since DD is a lot different now to how it used to be. I mean that chapter about Silice was basically "Let Kern tell it" xD
Very true, and most people seem to prefer parodies and whatnot. Beyond the Veil has been awesome so far though =3 I love anything with Sharess and Vel'Cahal.
