I don't find it sad really, just interesting. why is time a sad affair?

The loss of good times and remembering bad ones.
What will the future bring? Will I utilise it properly or waste it? Will it shoot by and I'll be left thinking what did I do? Wow - all depressing.
Think it's best to enjoy, or at least appreciate as best as circumstances allow, the here and now.
