funny thing is, this type of armor never was a toe to toe armor, but hide in trees and sling arrows
archers and other ranged skirmishers wore some pretty substantial armor in the medieval period, there are even depiction of english longbowmen with plate armor, although not full harnesses like a knightly man at arms would be wearing
