It's not so much the Scarecrow that's amazing (which it is, don't get me wrong), it's more the general atmosphere of the picture. Like, to me, I see that scarecrow and I see something evil locked away in it. Something that's not human and that only wants to destroy all that it sees. To other's, it might not be what I see, but they see something dark, mysterious...sinister about this scarecrow. Something is off, but they don't fully understand what it is about it that is off. They feel drawn to it, but at the same time they feel repulsed by it. It's not one of the dopey-looking scarecrows that you see around Thanksgiving. It's more like the sinister representation of All Hallows Eve that you see, feel and sense from this one.
