Fair enough.

I used to like "Attack on Titan" (I was caught up in the hype), but now, I just do not understand why it is so popular, and why people think it is 'unique' or 'original'. I especially do not think it has 'strong female characters'. Mikasa and Anne falling into "Never A Self Made Woman", the former because her life revolves around Erin, and the only reason she is as 'badass' as people think she is, is because of Erin's actions and speech after saving her. Not to mention how bullshit and sexist it is that the boy, a young boy at that, can easily take on grown men (sure he was overwhelmed, but he still took out some), but the girl is just a damsel-in-distress. As for Annie, she fits into it as she has the typical "trained to fight by father/male relative/male mentor" cliché, and even obtained her entire attitude from him. Her titan form does not diminish that.
The only thing that is original and strong about them is the fact that they are actually muscular, complete with six pack, which is extremely rare with female characters.

The only compelling and actually strong, original female characters (well, main ones anyway) are Ymir, Historia and Hitch.

Not to mention the series starts off with the 'dead mother cliché', and in a 'stuffed in the fridge' version too.  As for the rest, it's your typical, boring shonen anime.

Ok, rant over.
