What hardware you lacking to run Vista??

Just about everything. I really need to build my own system.

That's often the way to go. Although didn't have the skills myself, had mine custom built locally - saved a couple of grand on what it would have cost to buy off the shelf. Built 18 mths ago and still runsVista like a charm ::)

I really like the new Windows Basic theme that they announced 2 days ago. I think it's just as good as Aero.

Was wondering if they'd take that direction - not quite as pepped up as the full theme minus aero, but certainly better than before. Would still aim for Ultimate version in the long run however - many features (even littlethings like games or full native 2-way syncing with portable devices) will only be available in the top version. From the way I read it, the gap will be much bigger from basic to Ultimate than was in XP Home & Pro. Even if you run it with the Basic theme until you can update your hardware.

Oh yeah. I think releasing a bunch of versions of Vista is a BAD idea. I know people who are totally confused as is about the differences b/t XP Home and XP Pro; making MORE versions w/ Vista is going to be a headache on end users.

All people need to know, is that you want to buy Vista Premium, or Vista Ultimate.
