Forcing people to look at art they don't want to see a horrible way to get them to 'appreciate' it.

I agree. I wouldn't want people to see my art as spam or "junkmail". I'd rather they see my art because they're interested in the subject and found it on their own.
Exactly, the picture I got wasn't bad, but I'm so irritated about the way it was introduced (shoved in my face) that I now have a bad mental association with it.
