I have been looking for this! the only question i have is this. I put down the base color for the skin and then i made a new layer for the hair color, however when i colored the hair it got all over areas that arent hair. I have seen alot of artists use the method you just taught but somehow by the end all the base colors are in their place and not touching where they shouldnt... how did you do that? I hope my question makes sense... Thank you so much!

Hmm I'm assuming you mean after making the base colour layer for hair, when adding the shading on top of that, the colour is affecting places that aren't the hair, correct?

The shading layer should be "clipped" on top of your hair colour base layer or any other base layer like skin, clothing, etc. (step 7) So by the end you should have one layer clipped above every one of your base layers (ie. hair + layer clipped to it, shirt + another layer clipped to it, pants, etc) This is the "clipping group" checkbox above where your layers are (there's 3 check boxes there)

Hope that helps!

That would be in photoshop, as long as background is transparent when you save!
Happy to help :)
