holy crap, the ek-ek and wak-wak....*shudders* my old nanny used to tell me reaaaallly creepy stories about them.
Is that so....!!!!
By the way my granny once mentioned a creature called a 'Ghora-kan'(Ghora=horse and kan=??? in a Bengali dialect).
She came across these some 50-55 yrs ago when my Grandpa was posted to a rural forested location for some time. Tales of these creatures spanned across rural regions of North Eastern India and Bangladesh...probably even eastward towards Tripura...

Local people, she said, were terrified of that being and claimed that if it makes an eye-to-eye contact with a person, it would kill that person before taking any rest.

The creature had a horse's head and hooves but a humanoid body....more like a Tikbalang.....but sometimes the description is like that of a Centaur...

ever hear of anybody encountering a rakshasha in real life?
Nope...Not those fanged and horned demons..

....But people with rather demonic nature are indeed 'Rakshasas' aren't they...;-)

That's the reason nowadays people in India thinks of rakshasas of legend as power-hungry evil humans of the past.
