Kshamenk's probably the one best suited to being returned to the wild. If he's half as resilient in the wild, as he's had to be to put up with Mundo Marino, life in the ocean would be heaven by comparison.

Kiska - I feel about the same as I do Lolita, but on her own merits. She's been taken from her family in the wild, and her adopted captive family have all died off. If she and Lolita could be brought together at Marineland Ontario, it'd be a great thing. Even while Kiska had her problems with Ikaika, they still had to have had their good days.

But on the downside, with all the negative press Marineland's been getting, I highly doubt such an arrangement will ever come to pass. :hmm:

I'd love to see Kshamenk, Lolita, and Kiska brought together.. somewhere (If release is not an option for any of them).

Maybe pulling the males out of Loro Parque and putting those three there would help not only the inbreeding happening, but the behavioral issues as well (having a couple mature adult females to maybe put the others in line). Who knows though. I just think there are quite a few orcas in needs of some help that are not getting it. Lolita and Kshamenk being the most important and dire cases. Kiska at least has a good sized tank as far as I can tell.

That'd be my dream as well.

Unless something's done, Loro Parque is just bound for more disaster - between the inbreeding and the attacks on trainers. I detest the fact that Morgan was sent there and not to a park with a more stable pod (I've heard so many conflicting diagnosises on the practicality of returning her to the wild that I, like most anti/pro issues, don't pick a side). The group at LP is only destined to grow up into a pod of social misfits who'd probably each cause their own rut of chaos if they're ever sent to other parks.

Sending an adult or two to LP to take charge could be just what those youngsters need. But I don't see the mainland SeaWorld parks ever parting with any of their older performing females for such a thing.

I don't really know what Sea World was thinking sending those particular four there to begin with. I thought they'd send maybe two related females and an unrelated male so if breeding were to happen there would not be inbreeding. When I found out which ones I was a bit confused. I think Morgan should be moved to another park with the males so maybe they can fix the behavioral problems. :/

Now there's that one in Russia, Narnia I think is her name? They captured her and are keeping her in a sea pen.

I think they were thinking of just one word: storage. Move the youngsters out so more babies can be bred, attracting more guests. But after all the deaths of 2010, I doubt the LP orcas will be coming back to the states anytime soon. Morgan will probably remain at LP as long as there are those out there keeping her wrapped up in legal battles with the intent of getting her released.

Narnia's destined for a new park opening in Moscow apparently. There's little word of what her attitude is like, and what her living conditions now are, but Russia is a relative newbie to keeping captive killer whales (even if they still have free reign to capture as many as they want from the wild). I don't foresee her lasting very long. The last one they captured in 2003 didn't.

So sad to hear :/

Poor things... I really wish I could pluck them out of the tanks and put them all in the ocean and tell them, Hey! You look out for each other and if you can't find your families stick together so you're not alone! XD

If only it were that easy, right?
