it IS a very well done composition and a bautiful pic - naturally, the even face of a child, undamaged and unchanged by life, soft and innocent contains a lot of beauty.

however the fact that this child is probably not even 9 (judging from the head-shoulder ratio, even taking into consideration that she could be extra fragile) and is wearing more makeup than some profesional models (what many people have not mentioned is her eyebrows) does bring up a lot of negative connotations such as:

Pedophily
Child porn
and the general oversexualisation of children which are yet far from the age of sexual maturity

yesyes, i know tons of people will come kicking and screaming now, because i´m only jealous and whatnot.
sorry, that´s not the point i´m trying to make.

this is of course harsh criticism and i dare say, it will not be welcome with many.
please try to view this artwork differnciatedly, come away from art for arts sake, brainlessly loving aesthetical things that contain ambiguousity deep down. ...or not so deep.
i am not implying that you, dear artist, who created a nice composition, are any of those things i mentioned above. what i do believe, is that art comes with some degree of responsibility and that it is impossible to be viewed apart from topics that are contemporaryly going round the world.

i dare also say that since this has been published without any statement (except for the implied love song, even more ambiguous?), i´m well within my rights to post these critical thoughts, so thanks in advance for not jumping down my throat.

Yes!

It's beautiful, and while it may be good to admire and enjoy beauty - is it good to do so without any critical thinking? Do we have a responsibility to the defenseless when we declare certain things good and beautiful?

I'm not saying that this child has been harmed in any way, but when we sexualize children (by dressing or portraying them in certain ways) and call it good, beautiful, normal - what else are we normalizing and promoting?

Maybe that's the point the photographer he was trying to portray. I never thought about it till I read your criticism.

I just thought, at first glance, it was to portray a child entering a beauty pageant Th Ceb85dec
