I'm a huge fan of Tim Burton, as well. His influence transfers onto a lot of my work.
I really wanted to capture the style of the original book as much as a could, while intermixing my own ideas.

Plus the stop motion animation just works so well with his dark style of filmmaking

Not to mention Robert Zemeckis, Stephen Spielberg and Peter Jackson who could do a really good motion capture movie
