I always wondered this too, but never put in the effort of researching it haha.. Thanks for clearing this issue up :dummy:

I noticed that many patterns that I have used say to use it for personal use only and to not sell and profit from finished products made from their pattern..
I followed their wishes to give respect to the owners, but then while looking around at crochet works online I would see people selling the finished products despite the request.
All that request would do is disappoint me because most people aren't going to mass produce things from patterns to sell, and the ones whom made the product put a lot of hard work into it~ Plus it would get confusing if someone altered something in the pattern, just because they used the pattern for some parts, they now can not sell their altered finished product?

:iconlaplz: I did purchase a pattern a while back, that states on the front page "This pattern may not be distributed or sold by anyone other than myself. You may make and construct this pattern and sell what you make from this pattern, but you may not sell or give away the pattern itself." I was ecstatic to see that statement!

If I were to share my patterns, I'd follow the same view.. If someone wants to have a go at making something that I made and later decide sell it, more power to them~ :D
