I was comparing your render "Luxus" which you did in March to this render in November on 3delight.  I bought Luxus and Reality 2  a few weeks ago and have been juggling time (unsuccessfully) trying to learn one or the other. I was thinking 3delight would just be my render engine for fantasy scenes.  That was before seeing the work you did here.  Whats interesting to me is how skin study, using 3delight holds up to the unbiased render of your Luxus scene using Luxus render. Cant really see a major difference or the need to spend the time learning Luxus or Reality now that I see what you did in 3Delight. This would suit me quite well for a realistic skin shot.

If I may ask, on skin study, why the older skin choices like freak-4-skin-maps-01, and brock-for-the-freak-4 when there are HD skins available for M6? Also what were your rendering times between the 3Delight and Luxus and would you say you prefer one over the other? Please forgive me I know I may be asking too much but we are working on a project and are overwhelmed with the amount of the learning curve between Maya, Mudbox, Daz, Luxus, and Reality 2, I know everyone keeps asking for a tut. but I would just be happy with a screen shot of your settings in 3Delight for this render one day if you ever get a chance or care to share this info. People like you are pioneers in these areas where others fear to tread. It would be great if they made software that allowed you to spend more time concentrating on the creativity instead of abstract number crunching. We are just trying to get there as fast as possible.

Thanks for the inspiring work!

Thanks a lot!!

I don’t use Genesis 2 Male/Female. Only Genesis. So I don’t use HD morphs. However, even if I did used Genesis 2 Male/Female, I’m not impressed at all with the HD morphs so far. They are unnoticeable.
I used freak-4-skin-maps-01, and brock-for-the-freak-4 because they are great maps. While Genesis is a far superior figure than Generation 4 figures, texture maps quality will depend only on the creator’s talent and not on the figure.
Sometimes I like to use 3Delight, sometimes LuxRender. It depends on my mood, can’t say I have a favorite, but if you are looking for realism, LuxRender is the best option. Reality is easier, Luxus is much better. It depends on what you need.

Results will vary between scenes. There’s no recipe. You have to adjust materials and lighting according to each other. If you want more details about this image you can see here:

But you have to understand well the tools to know how to proceed with each image. Copying settings won’t help you as scenes vary a lot between them.
