Why is the "normal" Marine Corps not also involved in space combat? Especially since this Corps derived directly from force recon Marines? Also are their uniforms/ rank structure the same?

The requirements of the Marines of the Space Force vs. the Marines of the Navy are so different that a separate command structure just made more sense. The first Space Marines were Force Recon guys, but new recruits were quickly added on top of them. And their dress uniforms are identical, while their combat armor is built for operating in a vacuum and re-entering the atmosphere.
Ah I see, still seems kinda strange to ad another branch but I suppose it does make sense. Judging by some of the comments I assume this is from a series of books?

However I should state that the influence for a US Space Force is partly inspired by George Friedman's "The Next 100 Years," among other novels, non-fiction and fiction. Its not a unique concept.
Interesting, I'll have to check it out

Nope, my own ideas.
