Comment on MLP FiM - ATHEWM 72 by Fadri

Why is Spike saying "Ouch?"  Is this suppose to be hurting his chances with Rarity?  What is he even suppose to be looking at?  Do those caricatures represent that Mane 6 in the background, or do they represent them as being behind the reader's viewpoint?  It was going really well until that last panel.
