Heya! It's cool you finally read it! It's a totally worth series, even if the very last book has some confusing ponts and typo mistake xd
For one thing I heard it's quite interesting about Halaflora because the author was uncertain how to handle a bit the revelations concerning her end. How much did you read of the series? all the books?
I have read six of the books. No I search for the prequel about Irelia the siblings' mother. IMHO 1-3 books are wonderful and the last isn't good. The author seems to write AoF in short breaks between his main vampire series. Actually E.E. Knight made some cross-points (or he got inspiration from books about vampires) in AoF. I mean all that mess with the dragon blood and its ability to evolve human and animal species into kinda monster forms 
Speaking of Halaflora... We have Nilrasha's words about the event. She didn't help Halaflora so the poor dragoness died of suffocation. Of course Nilrasha could lie.
