Yeah, but they tried to make it look cool with that slanted stand. You know, the one they discontinued starting in 2011 that also removed Gamecube support.

I liked the way the disc slot lit up, but am not a fan of vertically standing consoles.
The removal of GC support was almost as annoying as Sony's removal of Other OS.  And from what I've been told, those Wii systems are only lacking the ports, everything on the motherboard is unchanged.

Yeah no, I'd imagine it's the exact same hardware sans Gamecube ports and with firmware that denies the use of Gamecube discs. Although, since that was around the time that Wii was pretty much starting to fall out of popularity, it wasn't the biggest of deals in my opinion. What I think is absolutely stupid is them relaunching an already dead console with similar hardware with absolutely no networking capabilities.
