They look good to me, especially those wonderful Helldiver shots. A better lens will always help but please don't be disappointed with what you have taken, I know it's difficult as I am exactly the same, the search for perfect image quality is something that will drive the very best of photographers mad. However you should be proud that this is the quality you get with a lens that is not up to today's standards as you put it. You have come home with images that anybody, including myself and any aviation photographer would be proud of. Of course you have to bare in mind that you don't have the luxury of regular shows for practice that we are lucky to have in the UK so to get this quality from an old lens and with just one or two shows a year to gain experience. Really you need to give yourself more credit as you genuinely are among the best aviation photographers on dA.

Thank you my friend that was most kind of you. I am proud of what I shoot, but I also know that I have the skills to be better.

As I said I do know the feeling as I am the same, so I do understand. I'm sure I am the worlds worst for picking holes in my own work. But all I am saying is that you should try and remember that where the artists sees what a photograph could have been, the viewer sees what it IS, which is a point of view an artist should try and see from time to time.

I'm not saying you shouldn't feel that you can do better, just that you should try and use that voice saying "could have been better" in a positive way and use it to highlight the things about your work you would like to expand or improve.

I'm sure you already do, I just don't like to see a talented artist feeling bad about their work.
