There are many flaws in the warrior series. Sexism is one of them. All the females are the same. Eg. Yellowfang, Sandstorm, Squrrielflight and Mousefur all have the same personality, sarcastic and sharp tongued. Cinderpelt, Feathertail, Leafpool and Ferncloud are nice and loving.

I sorta agree, but you make them seem one-faced. All the cats you've mentioned (except for Mousefur and Ferncloud, I guess, but they were side characters) have shown more personality than just "sarcastic" or "loving". Feathertail spat uncharacteristically at Purdy in Midnight, Leafpool and Cinderpelt spat at each other at Twilight, Cinderpelt even leaped at Leafpool claws outstretched; Leafpool was described by Jayfeather to act irritable and angrily. In Yellowfang's Secret, it really showed her character development, from her somewhat-innocent self to the sarcastic cat she is now. Squirrelflight and Sandstorm have both been shown as gentle on several characters. They are not flat characters.

the thing is that those are actually main characters. they need character development so the books don't end up boring. sometimes they might unnaturally go out of character (cause the erins ran out of ideas) but half the time the she cats are set into 3 categories (sweet and nice, sarcastic or calm). The only she cats i've seen with different personalties are bluestar (her depressive character), mapleshade (evil af) and Hollyleaf (she obvs has a mental thing wrong with her)

Yup I agree. The second problem I find a bit annoying is the lack of basic knowledge about cats. I do understand it's fantasy but some things were just annoying to me. Like all tortoiseshell males are sterile. Red tail wasn't. Two ginger cats (no matter light ginger or "orange" ) have to have ginger kits. The trait of ginger fur is recesive and there is just no other way around. And look at Leafpool. Like they couldn't make her look like Sandstorm. It wouldn't have much influence on the plot really.

Maybe Leafpool got her brown tabby fur from Firestar's mother, Nutmeg? I THINK the wikia said she was a brown and white tabby.... IDK though, just a guess.

I think writes thought it would work like this. Sadly it do not. Gene thet determines ginger fur is placed on the X chromosome so it's heirdom is conected to gender. If the she cat has both chromosome X with ginger fur gene, she's going to be ginger. If she has only one ginger chromosome X she's going to be tortoiseshell. Toms normally have only one gene X so they can be only ginger or not (if the tom is tortoiseshell that means he has cat Klinefelter syndrome (double chromosome X) which means he is sterile). Firestar was ginger. That means he had only ginger chromosome X. Sandstorm was ginger. That means she had two "ginger" chromosomes. There was no way for their daughter to not be ginger.
I know it's a fantasy book. But I just love when authors hide some little accurate facts in fantasy books and really missed that in warriors.

I really don't want to sound petty, but why do people fuse so much about the warrior series not having accurate genetics? It seem like an unnecessary hassle on the authors' part. They're already got enough character to keep track of, with literally 100s of background characters by this point. The last thing they should be fusing over if genetics, when they're already lacking in something like basic unique personalities traits.  Also, no one complains about, say for example, the Lion King, which has a Lion with dark brown fur, which utterly impossible.

I know and completely understand your point. It's just that it feels kind of stupid for me that cats were similar to each other only when it was plot convinient and other than that they just seemed to get random pelts. Like take Lionblaze, Jayfeather and Hollyleaf- normaly someone would get a feeling something is not quite right when the supposed child of a ginger she-cat and a brown tabby is black. How the hell did that happened? And later we learn she was meant to represent Crowfeather. If the book would at least try to be more genetically accurate we would be pick up on this subtelity, but here it just feels completely random.
Kits are only similar to their parents when they need to be and that annoys me as heck, because then when some character points out the similarity it becomes extremly forced where naturally it would be completely normal.
Also not staying accurate with genetics leaves us with some design weaknesses for example MASSIVE abuse of blue eyes. I know it's a nice color but oh my, why each and every she-cat with more generic character has to have blue eyes.
Mellowix's avatar
Ok, that I can agree with. Even if I'm not too fussed about the Science accurately behind it, at least they could attempt to make kits look like their parents/kin somewhat. It's just completely random by this point. Also, if the Erins did go a big deeper to some of the more obscure cat-breeds, so they can give the characters more unique designs. As I feel like many of the characters have too limited/repetitive designs.
Zundel's avatar
Exactly
I'm not against changing things here and there. Heck, even I have a calico tomcat OC. But I think they could have at very least applied some basic rules for their desings. Then it would be easier to explain cats relation with each other.
Take Thunder- both parents gray, why he had to be ginger. He could have been silver, like Storm, it would have made much more sense plotwise. Or even better- they could have made Storm pale ginger. Than Thunder's desing could stay the way it is, while still resembling his mother.
Also there could be so much more diversity- they could have had an heterochromia character, more cats like Jayfeather, with some illnesses or interesting traits running in family- just add more variety to their usually gray tabbies with blue eyes.

O,O

...okay. I stand corrected.

Lol, I suck at science...

... Sorry...
Genetics is my hobby and as a cat lover I studied their genotypes...

Yes you are right but it is a fantasy so a lot of things are not true in the story.
Zundel's avatar
I know, I know but I just think it wouldn't hurt to make some things just more suitable for normal cats. I pretty much enjoyed a series as whole, but I find it a bit sad that some characters didn't got a good development and where only made to create tragedy. Like for example Feathertail. I really belive she could get better development. I think that if some cats can survive falling from a building she could survive her fall.
FairyPrincess666's avatar
I miss Feathertail. She was awesome. When she was around I actually liked Crowpaw. After she died I was quite mad and Crowfeather became an idiot.
Mewisadorable's avatar
Same. *randomely butts into conversation that Iam not part of*
Zundel's avatar
Well to be hones I didn't like Crowfeather from the beginning, but I think Feathertail could straight him up. She was really lovely and deserved to live. And I really prefer Crow×Feather than Crow×Leaf.
FairyPrincess666's avatar
Same. I thought he would change with Feathertail around but she died. I don't like Crow X Leaf. Crow X Leaf was the reason I now dislike Leafpool.
Zundel's avatar
Same. Before that I just found Leafpool uninteresting. But it annoyed me that she talked like three times with Crow and then puff- she loves him and is ready to leave whole her family and cats that relay on her behind to be with him. To be honest I was even a bit angry when Hollyleaf forgave her, because for me she never was really good mother. Squirrelflight was and she deserved forgiveness much more than Leaf.
