When I saw the movie in the stream, I just felt bad for him. He focused so much on staying away from sin that he didn't seem to understand things, and he ended up sinning more by trying to be pure. It seems like a mistake anyone could do. I guess Catholics would probably be more likely to fall into that, though, since they have a lot of rituals. I think...
How exactly did things go in the book? It's nice that he seems nicer than in the movie.
Also, it's a nice picture. ^_^

Yes, he was a bit nicer. He took in Quasimodo when everyone else was calling for the child to be burned, and raised him as well as he could. He went a bit crazy in the end though. It's a good book, but very depressing.
