Nice attempt for the first time! Just don't try to blur/make it too muddy... I'm working on that myself, you should see the massive wip folder with muddy crappy paintings atm xD but really, good job! Continue this :D

Thanks! And yes, blurring is a problem for me. I can't seem to find anything that straight up tells me the steps I should be taking over. Do you know of any tutorials like this perhaps? :D

Well, I figured out painting in photoshop prevents the muddy stuff a lot more then Sai does in general. Sai blends soo smoothly that is kinda bad XD? So that would be my tip. I find Sai a lot easier for sketching ect, but I prefer PS for proper painting xD! And any good tutorial? I got one on my pc, but friend send it to me :( it is a huge zip file of 1 gig, so I can't just send it over ;_;

I hear you on SAI being too smooth with the blending. I use to use PS heavily until I learned SAI was easier for my sketching and line art. Going to have to use PS again and stop neglecting it. XD

Yarp, back to PS it is xD I hate it with a passion, but I hope once I get used to it, it won't be as bad any longer :P

Pick colours. So start by filling the whole face with the skins midtones.. then define the shadows in a much darker grey/blue/brown colour then the highlights in a yellowish colour. then pick colours which are between those and just paint. Don't worry about blending or smoothing. Just get down the skin colours and keep picking colours from the canvas to fill in areas they should go. Pressing alt brings up the colour picker so you can easily do it whilst painting. :D
