Oh you upgraded your brushset! that's sweet 
your brushes have been serving me well (the drawing pen from v 3.0 in particular I've used a lot), and will continue to do so until I have the skill to create my own. But for starters, how do you actually create these brushes for Krita? is there a guide somewhere I could follow to experiment with creating my own?

You can search on Youtube, there is a bunch of videos about the basic, and also with the sliders and the edit panel , you can figure alone 80% of the parameters easily. It's just need time, and trial and error learning. If you want to package them, and clean them ; it's a bit more complicated, and the best doc is probably the tips and trap summary of GrinGod 's blog :
