well, some places i lived in that had a sink/mirror/etc in the room were student rooms where the toilet was shared in the hallway.
other places just had a sink in the bedroom. separate bathroom and toilet in other parts of the house. apparently that's something that was considered normal in the 70s? (i lived in a lot of older houses)
