OMG, great idea!
Tadashi made this armor for a science project and that's what got him into the college. Before he died, he installed the parts for the armor into Hiro's computer, causing Hiro to unconsciously make Baymax's armor from his brother's designs and further sealing the bond between Baymax and Tadashi!

My addition to it: He only completed the plans, and was planning to build the suit for real as his thesis project after completing Baymax took up so much of his time. But he died before he could start that project, and Hiro used those plans to build Baymax's improved armor.
