He is indeed. The Marsupilami made its first appearance in one of Spirou et Fantasio's adventures, namely the "Nid des Marsupilamis"/"Marsupilamis' nest"
Huh. Was it better than the cartoon. Even as a kid, I didn't get it.
It definitely is. The cartoon is really, really bad and tries way too hard to be funny.
