Personally, I think less romance in kid's cartoon would be OK, though as McKellar put it, heterosexuality is the great human norm. Besides, smoking is currently banned from kid's shows, but it's not to pretend smoking doesn't exist.
It don't think it insults someones intelligence to save heavier topic for when their minds are ready. Should we have rape openly discussed in kid's cartoon? Gore (Mortal Kombat level)? I think Tammy Bruce put it best.
Even if you were to simply put it out their without the sex stuff, it still is harmful since it is still encouraging a dangerous lifestyle. And as McKellar put it, it tries to claim homosexuality is like heterosexuality without asking the heavy questions about biology, psychology, etc.
