I love Germany. In fact, I spent the first two years of my life in Elstal (Olympisches Dorf), 39 km west of Berlin.

I haven't been to Germany since we left it in 1977, after the end of my father's 5-year military service on a Soviet army base. I don't have any family in Germany, although I had a German great-grandfather. I live in Simferopol, the capital of the Republic of Crimea (formerly Ukraine, now Russia).
