Fun fact about the tea party in the original "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" book.  In the original Disney movie, the tea party was part of an unbirthday celebration, but in the book, they weren't actually having the tea party by choice.  According to the Mad Hatter, time has a personality, and if you're nice to it, it'll slow things down for you when you're having fun and speed things up for when you're feeling sad.  The Hatter also believed that some months prior, he had inadvertently offended time, and it froze for him at 6 p.m.  Days, months, and even years would pass, and it would it still be six o'clock all the way through, so for the Hatter and the Hare it would be tea time all the time, and they're stuck doing it around the same table set.  The Hatter and the Hare essentially believed themselves to be locked in a perpetual limbo until such a time as time forgives them.  Whether this is all true or just a creation of their broken minds is never confirmed in the book.
