Thank You for taking the time to comment :) To be honest when I visited this abbey my knowledge about its history was minimal and based mainly on Wikipidia which, believe me, is not a reliable source. Fortunately there are some nice guides which provide at least basic info about the abbey. Some of the monuments inside are quite interesting - I remember for example that there is a 14th century effigy depicting one of the abbots showing him as a corpse with exposed ribs and skull being devoured by worms.... I suppose this was to show how insignificant the material world is.... Anyway, thank you again for the comment!

Pleasure - the effigy reminds me of how brutal life was then. Easy to forget how much we`ve tried to remove the difficult parts from life. They dealt with reality - however hard. We should respect them and be grateful!
