Nice! Reminds me of France a little.

Where in France?
Usually what comes to my mind with the half timbered buildings is England.
Though there are great ones all over Europe.
I saw pics of some really awesome ornate ones in Germany and some other countries.

Let's see um... Thiers, for one. Nice place. Dinan and others in Bretagne, also. It's hard to remember the names, sometimes.

Thiers has one crazy street plan. I just looked at the satellite image.
Do you travel a lot? I would assume many of these locations are not terribly far away.

Well you'll have a hard time finding grid layouts in any part of Europe, let alone medieval towns.

My family used to make a trip to France every summer. Varied country, good food; not too far away from Belgium and we share a language.

Agreed, and I'm not much of a fan of grids [except when one is lost]. Thiers is a bit more crazy than I've seen before.

Where did you all go in France? The same locale, or various spots? That would be cool.
Much cooler than, say traveling to Virginia or Ohio. ;) [They're both about as close.]
I only speak a small amount of French and that made my trip to Paris more difficult.
I wanted to go further out but time did not allow for it.

Well it's a bit hilly; that's not doing straight streets any favour either. Some bobby-pin bends in there, too.

My father preferred the Provence so we went there a lot. Other than that, we visited Poitiers a couple times, the Atlantic, the Pyrenees and and the Auvergne... too much to tell, really. Always made a stop at Mont St.Michel when we went to Bretagne, btw.
I also went to Paris afterwards with my boyfriend, but a city trip of that sort is completely different from more rural vacations...

Ah, Mont St. Michel. :iconsmile--plz:
I have always wanted to visit there. I saw a picture when I was very young and I always thought that was one of the most fantastic blends of building and landscape. I am indeed envious of you right now. ;)

Yes, city trips do not speak of the lands they are in. I was able to hike in England and got a much better perspective than London visits. I had hoped to do the same in France but, alas no. :(
