They were trying to hit *all* of the settings and it is as they say... you can do a single thing really well, or a lot of things poorly. Have to give them at least props for trying, though. Sharp picture, reminds me of a 'project' character I've been working on that is of draconic blood. (Not art, just upcoming character for a game sometime.)
Also, I think they were depending on people being more or less familiar with the pre-existing backstory and thus making it unnecessary to include in the core book. Their prior edition core-books also lacked extensive world info. They left that for supplements.
Just trying to figure out why the Sorcerer list includes Polymorph, but not True Polymorph, seems a logical progression to me.
